A place to share the view & the land

The Caterpillar Hill Initiative (CHI) is a conservation and community arts organization that engages and encourages people of all ages to deepen their connection to the natural world through outdoor education, the arts, and community activities. Our mission is to protect the unique scenic view and landscape of Caterpillar Hill, the fresh water ecosystems and ecological diversity; the blueberry farming and forestry; and to encourage respectful access by the community. The property includes the spectacular view spanning Swan's Island, the Deer Isle Bridge, and Penobscot Bay, from Mount Desert Island to Rockland/Thomaston, as well as historic buildings, some waterfront on Walker's Pond, blueberry barrens, and forested areas.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) and your gifts are tax-deductible.
